To play or not to play?
I played guild wars prophecies from day one up until 2 months. I quit because I rushed through it all and explored/did just about every quest. Well I really enjoyed it and I miss it. All I got is prophecies. I lost my account though and will be making a new one. Do people still play prophecies? I love exploring/questing.

good god, this is the third or fourth thread about someone saying they are coming back. I suggest a mod creates a sticky thread for those who think they need to tell us, for some odd reason, that they are coming back.

I wasn't stating I was coming back for sure. I was simply asking if people still played prophecies. I'm glad you can read.

I think I saw one guy at the Overlook and then rushing to the Falls I found an empty outpost. (But I certainly saw 3 people in Overlook yesterday!)
I did PuG with some guys in Factions some two days ago though. |

They do not play as much as they used to people are more spread out nowdays or have heroes. Remarkably Pugging is almost seen as a sign of "you can't do this mission'' Rather than im bored so lets bring some nubs to entertain me xP
But ppl tend to just stand around with 3 heroes and henchmen nowdays.Only peeps who really pug are the peeps who can not H/H the mission for whatever reason. |

Pretty much everyone on my guild hates to play alone. If they wanted to play alone, they say, they wouldn't be in a guild. I can, and have, done lots of missions by myself, including all the Nightfall Gates. Usually I PUG, and if they suck, THEN I do it by myself. But I play a MMORPG to... you guessed it! Play with other people! I don't even bother getting any but the required heroes. Plus, just because you CAN do one mission, doesn't mean you shouldn't join someone else who might not be able to do it. Why not help them?! To the OP: Yes, there are still some people in Prophecies, but since Prophecies is SOOOOOOOOOO slow gameplay, people just get runs, and their lvl 20 friends to help them, even in the beginner missions. You won't find anyone to PUG with, because there's a lvl 20 somewhere getting Mission&Bonus to get their Guardian title, so he'll rush you through the missions. I suggest you grab Nightfall instead. The story and the quests are pretty good, so if you enjoy the storyline, go with Nightfall. Factions is just... well... The quests and storyline are really half assed.... There's just no excitement it it, everything is so predictable *yawn* Plus Factions is so easy you can beat it in one day... You'll find the most people willing to PUG in Nightfall. That 5 dollar deal is now 19 dollars *sob!* Well, I hope you come back, to me, after 3 years, it is still a lot of fun. (No, I don't seek titles ) |

Granted there aren't as many players in the high end zones or the majority of prophs but I still see plenty of pugs. Monday afternoon around 3 gmt there was loads of peeps on euro realms, and not just kama, there were pugs in several of the rmeote questing outposts lfg'ing and generally out for a bit of fun. but still, the number of people who don't know how to play this game is ridiculous. When Anet created the MMO for the non-MMO player did they really intend it not to be played? I mean some people don't even get the basic concept of a build, never mind one specifically for their chosen profession, how the hell can they hope to roll heroes and henches and succeed? Pugs filled with these types of players are all over the place and do need alot of hand-holding, but the whole thing only goes to exasperate the problems in the vast majority of the community that it's not worth playing with PUGs as it's considered a waste of time. Surely if you don't have much time to accomplish what you want then go through and play, but if you enjoy playing with others, you should at least hope to get people who don't know the ropes, even though they somehow passed ascension in prophs and beat the doppelganger... Thanks to pvxwiki though noone should really have a problem getting decent builds, but people should definitely experiment if they really want to understand how to beat a particularly tough piece of the game... |

Proph is quite empty nowadays, your probably better off waiting for gw2 to come out imo.

If you do not mind exploring on your own, you can get all GW chapters/expansions for little money by now.
I recently returned, just to find out that I do not really that keen on playing GW again, nothing new. And my friends who still play it, dunno why they still play it actually, are not that active. Guess they use it as some kind of beefed up chat software. But if you have not seen Factions, Nightfall, Eye of the North... heck, then you must get GW again. It is definitely worthwhile. |

The quests can also be a lot of fun. I have done them with my first char a year ago or so. Than I rushed all the other chars trough factions. I started a Sin the other day and did a lot of KC quests. And there's quite some story to explore - peeping on the Am Fah, assassinate the head of the Jade Brotherhood and so on.... |

People definitely still play Prophecies. I am at the second to last Prophecies mission and I've had pick up groups for all of my missions. There are definitely people still playing, you won't have to play alone. (But you can if you want.)

If you can get into pvp get factions, alliance battles are pretty interesting. But for prophs it's mostly somewhat empty now. not how it use to be in the old days :S.

I am not a fan of pvp. I am about to make my new account now in prophecies. Hopefully I can find people to explore with. That's all I like to do.
